What is pool restoration? If the current pool is an in-ground concrete pool, then the new surface must not be placed on top. First, remove any existing plaster by chipping it off and then bond coating or sandblasting the surface. Although all methods are acceptable, there are some advantages and disadvantages to each. Once the surface has been properly prepared it is time to apply the finish coat. This can be either plaster, quartz, exposed pebbles, glass beads and polished pool finishes.

Pebble-plaster concrete aggregates, like Pebble Tec or Pebble Sheen may be the most expensive option in this category but they have a distinctive look and a river rock-like texture beneathfoot. Pebble-mixtures are also among the most stain and chemical-resistant of all plaster types.

Consider painting your concrete or fiberglass pool instead of resurfacing. You can water-blast the old paint and then spray on a new coat with epoxy paint (such as Nu-Pool), that should last 7-10 years. Acrylic or rubber-based paints can also be used but are not as durable as epoxy paint.
